OIKOS is a passionate grassroots network encouraging people in ‘all of life discipleship’. God is bringing about a transformation in his kingdom and church across the world. The 16th century saw a reformation of doctrine, our generation is living in a time of reformation of church structure – of simple churches and multiplying missional movements.
Mission & Purpose
We are excited to see new disciples start missional communities and simple/house churches in their homes, cafes, work places, prisons, sports clubs or connecting with missional hubs that serve their local communities. We encourage people to use simple tools and practices that are easily reproducible, thus encouraging generational growth. We seek to train up disciples who make other disciples – not just consumers and spectators. Generational growth occurs when a new disciple, goes out and makes another disciple who then makes another disciple. This results in rapid multiplication of disciple makers and simple churches are formed when these disciples gather.
Oikos comes from the Greek word meaning household, which includes the relational network of people not just those who live in their house. As new disciples are made they are encouraged to immediately reach out to their oikos networks.
Purpose
To network and encourage the new ways of ‘being church’ that God is bringing about in Australia today.
